HOW LONG WILL MY SCENT LAST?

Updated: Aug 16, 2019

This is the question I get asked the most often! Who doesn't want to hear "YOU SMELL GREAT!" from those around us. And, people seem to want their scent to last the whole day without re-applying. In theory, using #perfumeoils and #essentialoils, which are the most concentrated form of fragrance and are the basis of Essence of Lara formulas, you will get the most bang for your buck. Since the final ingredient of the fragrance is your own #body chemistry, scents will burn off at different rates according to your body heat, blood flow etc. In most people's experience, 5-8 hours is the average and that's without layering.

LAYERING

The magic formula for a long lasting fragrance is layering. That is why most high end expensive brands sell a scented body lotion to go along with their Eau de Parfum or Eau de Toilette. Most Eau de Parfums are only 18%-25% fragrance oil, Eau de Toilets, less than 20%, the rest is alcohol.

The truth is, to increase the longevity of your perfume, any non-scented body cream or oil layered beneath your perfume will add more life to your fragrance. Essence of Lara offers my Vanilla Bean infused Organic Body Oil #Cherish, which also works as a great carrier of your favorite perfume oil blend. Currently my signature scent, #LarasBlend, is available in this body oil. However, Cherish can also be customized to any one of our scents. If ordering online, just simply order Cherish, the Vanilla Bean infused Body Oil, and send a message requesting the scent you would like infused into it. Voila! You're layering!

PULSE POINTS

Always apply scent to your pulse points where it will naturally react with your body temperature. Those points are the inside of elbows, nape of neck, backs of knees and wrists. Do not rub perfume oil in. Simply tap.

ANOTHER TRICK

Apply your scent after showering or bathing when skin is hydrated The moisture gives the scent something to hold onto.

Another little tip I've learned about perfume oils: rubbing a small amount in your hair will keep the fragrance alive even longer! Since we wash our hair fairly frequently, it is better than putting it on a piece of clothing where it may linger way too long!

If you have any other tips I would love to hear from you!
